"Finishing Strong": Intentional Aging Rather Than Just Getting Old

Instructors Kay Abramson

An acquaintance of the facilitators, when she was asked about her intention as she reached retirement, said, “I intend to continue to be interested and interesting.”

Using John Medina’s, Brain Rules for Aging, and Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal, as well as other resources, we will consider what contributes to our ability to meet the issues of aging with intelligence, courage and grace as well as what gets in the way of living this later life stage well.

Kay and Peggy are marriage and family therapists who are asking questions such as these both with their clients at Samaritan and in their own lives.
