My approach to counseling

Across the lifespan, we encounter stressors of all kinds. Our moods, anxiety levels, thinking, and behaviors can depend on how well we are able to manage these stressors over time. Sometimes, regardless of our age, the coping skills we’ve learned and developed let us down. Utilizing a primarily psychodynamic approach, my goal in therapy is to help you experience your life (including the good and bad aspects) in a real and authentic way, grounded in self-awareness and insight, so that you are in better control of your moods, anxiety, thinking, and behavior.
With children, I utilize play therapy which can help them gain awareness, feel understood and empowered, resolve ongoing developmental dilemmas, and work toward individuation and healthy development. With adolescents and adults, I provide talk therapy that can be highly helpful in either an exploratory or supportive fashion.

I have experience in working with

Children of abuse and neglect
Children of divorce or other family conflict
Adolescents and identity development
Men’s issues
Veterans and their families
Religious/spiritual problems
I am able to provide comprehensive evaluations for children and adolescents, measuring intellectual, behavioral, emotional, and personality functioning.
I am available for diagnostic consultations as well as parenting support.

Make an Appointment

Samaritan Center uses an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system developed by Valant for client intake and subsequent health records management. To set up your account and schedule your appointment, follow these steps, as directed by your therapist and prompted by Valant:
  1. To begin the process, first contact the therapist by email or phone (listed on this page above) to schedule an initial conversation about fit.
  2. When prompted by an email from Valant, set up your patient portal account using a validation code provided by your therapist.
  3. Fill out your demographic/insurance information in Valant. Let your therapist know when this is complete.
  4. When prompted by an email from Valant, complete our eSignature intake packet.

NOTE: All the above steps must be completed before your first session with your therapist.
