Suicide Prevention Webinar for Clergy and Church Leaders

Instructors Dr. Jeffrey Sung

In this 3-hour webinar, Seattle psychiatrist Jeffrey Sung will offer his expertise in suicide prevention to faith leaders who play such a critical role in spiritual and mental health. Dr. Sung, who is a statewide leader in the training of clinicians, has created this overview for clergy and other pastoral care leaders. The webinar will take place on Monday, November 7, from 9 to noon.

The webinar introduces key competencies for faith leaders who have an essential role in supporting life before, during, and after a suicidal crisis. The core content has been developed by the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s Faith Communities Taskforce. Dr. Sung will draw from these competencies and relevant research to introduce vital skills in pastoral prevention, intervention, postvention, and communication.

ONLINE REGISTRATION will open on Friday, October 3.

Sponsored by Samaritan Center, the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, and the Seattle Presbytery’s Commission on Ministry
