My approach to counseling

My theoretical orientation celebrates the truth that one’s identity and purpose arise out of relatedness: to God, to oneself and to others. Thus, healthy relatedness between client and counselor is essential to Christ’s healing process in therapy. My approach will vary, depending on the issues to be resolved and individual client needs. The therapy session will be a safe place within which to explore, heal and grow.
Additionally, my pastoral and cross-cultural experience has led me to be particularly aware of the mental health needs of church staff (both program and support) and missionary personnel.

I have experience in working with

*Premarriage, remarriage and couple counseling – frequently using PREPARE/ENRICH Inventories, promoting Safe Haven in relationships, applying Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and evidenced-based principles of John Gottman
*Anxiety, phobias, panic, grief, depression, anger management and behavioral responsibility, ethnicity in marriage and family, overwhelming life stress, self-esteem,adult survival of childhood trauma, and addictions (including partners of sex addicts)
*Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – Level 2 practitioner
*Clergy and cross-cultural mission/aid personnel and their families
*Spiritual direction and mentoring
*Consultation with churches, mission agencies and service-oriented groups

Make an Appointment

Samaritan Center uses an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system developed by Valant for client intake and subsequent health records management. To set up your account and schedule your appointment, follow these steps, as directed by your therapist and prompted by Valant:
  1. To begin the process, first contact the therapist by email or phone (listed on this page above) to schedule an initial conversation about fit.
  2. When prompted by an email from Valant, set up your patient portal account using a validation code provided by your therapist.
  3. Fill out your demographic/insurance information in Valant. Let your therapist know when this is complete.
  4. When prompted by an email from Valant, complete our eSignature intake packet.

NOTE: All the above steps must be completed before your first session with your therapist.
