My approach to counseling
I graduated from Gonzaga University with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2015. I have specialized in trauma therapy, treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) since 2017. The theoretical approaches I use in therapy are Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, and Mindfulness.
I work well with individuals trying to answer those big questions about loss or find meaning in their lives. I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients and I’m not one to offer tons of advice. The most important thing I want for you is to feel safe and find your own voice. I provide an empathetic experience to assist you with major life changes or to walk through the difficulty of reprocessing unresolved events.
With couples, I lean on the research from Julie and John Gottman and have completed level 1 training. I emphasize the importance of emotions in couple sessions and guide individuals to correctly hear their partner. I assist with communication, intimacy, effective emotional regulation when discussing conflict, and ways to turn toward each other in distress instead of turning away.
What my clients enjoy most is my sense of humor I bring into all my sessions, guiding clients through their difficulties and always making room for some optimism.
