My approach to counseling

I am honored to come alongside clients as they work toward a wholeness in their lives and relationships. We find psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual health when we are true to ourselves and more authentic in our relationships.

My work with individuals and couples varies depending upon the specific issues to resolve and the presenting challenges. My primary theoretical framework is Family Systems Theory, which focuses on cultivating one’s sense of self while increasing emotional strength and decreasing reactivity.
Though not always a part of therapy with clients, explorations and integration of religious or spiritual practices often find their way into our work.

I have professional experience working with

  • Management of stress and anxiety
  • Negotiating changes and transitions
  • Improving communication
  • Integration of spirituality and mental health toward a more vibrant life
  • People dealing with depression, grief, and loss
  • Utilizing mindfulness to increase awareness and gratitude
  • Consultations for pastors and congregations

By Carl Hilton VanOsdall, LCSW, MDiv A friend recently shared with me their copy of Nikita Gill’s book, Where Hope Comes From. The first poem, entitled “And a Message from the Universe,” goes like this: In every moment of your existence, Several realities Are bursting across the cosmos.  Planets explode. Stars burst. Solar systems dissolve Or welcome a new planet Into the orbit of...
