My approach to counseling

Drawing from a variety of family therapy models, I generally work from a systems perspective. This means therapy will include consideration of the many physical, social, cultural, emotional and spiritual influences impacting you, your family and your relationships. I work in both brief and longer-term perspectives, drawing from solution-focused, family systems theories, Emotion Focused Therapy and intimacy therapy techniques.

I have experience working with:

  • Workplace issues/career changes
  • Depression, grief, and loss
  • Anxiety
  • Identity change
  • Sexual identity
  • Spirituality and faith
  • Intimacy and sex therapy
  • Parenting issues: discipline, behavior modification, parents’ needs

No Small Thing podcasters Scott and Macie interview Deb Thomas about anxiety in this 2-hour special from September 2018. Dive into what anxiety is, what causes it, and some healthy ways to cope.
