Katherine has over five years of experience providing individual and group counseling for men and women struggling with mental health, substance use and trauma-related concerns in community mental health, residential, outpatient and criminal justice settings. In addition, she has provided supervision for clinicians seeking licensure in the state of Colorado for the past two years. She recently relocated to the Seattle area from Colorado where she held dual credentials as a Licensed Addiction Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor.

Professional Interests and Specialties:
Katherine strives to utilize evidence-based interventions which address the holistic needs of an individual and draw out his or her motivations and skills for change. Specific therapeutic interventions reflect the tenets of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing and attachment theory. Together, these theories not only promote insight but also seek to provide practical ways to change thought patterns, behaviors, and ways of relating to others. Her choice of approach varies depending on the presenting problems and goals of the client, their personality and intellectual style, and the amount of time they are able to devote to therapeutic work.

Katherine is interested in how mental health, substance use, and trauma intersects. She sees both men and women with the following issues:

  • addiction
  • relapse prevention
  • anxiety disorders
  • mood disorders (Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorders, etc.)
  • psychotic disorders (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorders, etc.)
  • boundaries
  • interpersonal relational patterns
  • identity development
  • grief and loss
  • shame
  • military lifestyle and trauma
